The Arts

Fine Arts Members will learn about the Elements of Art (line, shape, form, texture, color) and the Principles of Design (perspective, symmetry, repetition, scale, contrast, movement) through observation, discussion and creation. Members will be exposed to artists and works of art, and exercise reflection, analysis, and identification of the elements of art that they have learned about. This program will also encourage Club members to create pieces suitable for submission for the National Fine Arts Exhibit contest through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
Junior Arts Members will participate in engaging art activities including building objects from recycled materials and found objects. Additionally, members will participate in games and challenges that utilize drawing abilities and art materials, with a focus more on fun than on instruction. Members will also have opportunities to create holiday and seasonal crafts projects in this program.
Free Expression Older Club members will be introduced to modern and contemporary works of art and be encouraged to explore new materials and create their own unique art works. The main focus of this program will be on creativity, exploration of new materials, and developing art skills and techniques.
